Adidas Originals Unite Video

After discussing with my group what path we would like to go down,the generations and music culture. Create an event bringing generations together. This Adidas video came up on Youtube and was perfect inspiration for what we want to do, unite generations.

We want to look into the music culture of Hulme. It was know as the after party destination, especially in the Crescents. 

"It seemed like every band in the city had done time there, the cops left it alone and the pubs were full of drugs. It was a magnet for every crazy, every loon, every counterculture inclined freak in the north of England and beyond. ".

 Gathering destination for students and party goers.

Here are some images I captured on the walking tour. 

 Contrast of cultures. Two men walking together having a conversation, one looking like a young,hip,working chap, then his pal looking homeless. One having a leather satchel, the other having a plastic bag. Two worlds getting on, something you wouldn't find in many communities.

Group Discussion notes

My group had a discussion after the community talks and here is a few ideas we came up with regarding what we want to do. We have decided to go down the music route. Look into the history of the musical culture in Hulme and present genres. 

Community Talks

We had several different talkers in to educate us on the community of Hulme and what goes on their. The last talker I was most interested in because she spoke about the music and culture of Hulme and this is a road I'd want to go down with this project. 

Animations

Here is some animations I created. Just experimenting with different ideas. I sat at my window in my halls which are in Hulme, and photographed people walking past. I then put the series of images together.

Walking Tour of Hulme

I captures snapshots whilst walking round to document information. I also took audio notes of the tour guide speaking, to record information.

Ideas and Michael Coates Talk

I had a few ideas after the first lecture so jotted them down. I would like to use film in this project because I have never really got the chance before. I want to make the most of collaborating with other students. There are also notes I made from the Michael Coates talk, fascinating talk! 

1st Lecture Notes

 From this 1st lecture I never knew that there was so much history behind Hulme! I am looking forward to more talks and discovering more!
